Annette Tersigni ~ Founder of YogaNurse® & YogaNursing

YOU ARE READY FOR CHANGE

HERE IT IS

WITH SO MUCH LOVE

When You Combine Yoga + Nursing You Get

DIVINE PURPOSE and OPPORTUNITY.

  • Unite your Passions: Yoga + Nursing. Take a Spiritual Journey

You're ready to go ALL IN and play in the endless ocean of your own being. To serve more people who need you. You understand the infinite possibilities of uniting therapeutic yoga with your nursing practice. You're ready to take a spiritually fulfilling journey, uplifting the nursing profession and expanding consciousness in healthcare. Relieve SAPS (Stress, Anxiety, Pain & Suffering) and create Health, Peace and Wisdom for yourself, your patients and your community.

  • Safe Medical Therapeutic Yoga without the Risk of Injuries

As a nurse you’re looking to address SAFETY when applying therapeutic yoga in your clinical practice as an adjunct therapy, and increase referrals, but most importantly reduce the risk of injury to consumers of yoga in your community. You do not need to be a contortionist to enjoy the benefits of yoga and this is exciting and brilliant news because it makes your dream of becoming a nurse yoga teacher an achievable goal! Right now, in your lifetime, you can revolutionize healthcare and reach the hearts of your patients.

  • Improve the work environment and be the nurse that saves the day!

Your work family matters to you and they are suffering in similar ways you have. Burnout, compassion fatigue, exhaustion, some of them are ready to quit. You can help them find peace and put them on a road to recovery. In fact, there is a HUGE demand for solutions in occupational health in almost every industry and your service will be a welcomed blessing to EVERYBODY.

  • Expand your Impact, Influence and Income

Combining yoga and nursing creates potential opportunities for NEW income streams. Whether you’re working in higher education nursing colleges, looking to start your own holistic practice, provide solutions in occupational health, or improve patient care and referral rates, there's no better way to increase your income, impact and influence than through sacred service to others, self-care and self-inquiry.

  • Be an Advocate for your Patients and a NURSE HEALTHCARE SUPERHERO

We are looking at a paradigm shift with a goal of lowering health care costs, treating the full spectrum of clients from cardiology, endocrinology, and oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, geriatrics, and women’s health as examples, with individuals and in groups.

Treating pain is a moral responsibility for nurses. You understand how critical it is to advocate for your patients and you know that there's massive room for improvement in our current healthcare system. YOU can be at the forefront of change in healthcare policy by including clinically effective and cost effective, integrative approaches to pain management, be it physical, mental, or emotional pain.

But even though integrating yoga into your nursing practice is the obvious answer to a more spirtually fulfilling career and joyous pain relief for your patients, knowing WHAT to teach and HOW to teach can be CHALLENGING in a medical setting.

Yoga+Nursing is CLEARLY the Perfect Marriage

But how do you fit this in and WHERE do you start?

The calling of a NURSE yoga teacher

As a nurse, you understand that your approach needs to be cautious, gentle and risk-free. You want an environment of safety and support where you don’t have to worry all the time about being sued or losing your nursing licence because nobody is perfect at everything. You’ve seen the suffering of your patients, the burnout among peers, the long and odd hours, missing family time, and the impact of night shifts. It eats away at the best of us. You KNOW you have a brilliant solution at hand but you might hit roadblocks along the way.

You may be asking...

How do I SAFELY integrate yoga into nursing without risking injury and further suffering? How do I approach management with my offering? Would they be open to a holistic approach in a medical world that isn’t ready to change healthcare policy?

Also WHAT do I teach and to whom? When and where is it appropriate to prescribe yoga? How do I teach it to my patients with certain conditions, limited mobility or disabilities? When is it appropriate to refer out?

Is there enough room for me to reach for my dreams? How would I know when I'm ready to teach or when the world is ready to be taught? Where do I even begin?

A lack of confidence and support might hold you down

You WANT to bridge the gap between yoga and nursing but you might not be receiving the kind of knowledge and support you need on how best to bring these two wonderful and somewhat contradictory worlds together. It is tempting then to take training program after training program, getting new certificates to add to your ever-growing collections, and yet you STILL might feel a lack of confidence in your ability to deliver THERAPEUTIC, medical yoga to your community.

You are a science-minded, spiritual being who requires support from peers and colleagues who are leading the medical world toward a more holistic and fulfilling experience.

Here's why you shouldn't give up...

With long shifts, family, studies, and an endless list of to-do's, you might find yourself struggling to find your next steps. You also KNOW what's at stake - you can't afford to take any risks. You NEED to get it right the first time.

It might feel overwhelming and even paralyzing. The idea gets shelved several times. It can take years to figure out the best practices and prepare yourself to make a move towards this dream.

BUT you should not give up yet. You're well ahead of the rest of the world. You're able to visualize a future where yoga is a vital aspect in medicine and you are right. YOGA+NURSING is rising up but it still has a loooong way to go. Imagine a world where yoga is taught at nursing school? You can be one of the nurses that leads us there. You have the ability to influence the health and wellbeing of your patients, colleagues and the world and this is CERTAINLY a worthy way to create meaning, and divine purpose in life.

The 5 Limiting Beliefs that Hold You Back from Reaching your True Purpose as a NURSE Yoga Teacher.

(and the enlightened approach to connect with your hearts song and be a divine light in healthcare!)

Limiting Belief #1

Fearing the naysayers and skeptics of the world

You might think that the world is not really ready for yoga as a mainstream solution for health issues. You are partly right. A patient might not readily accept your suggestion to breathe deeply when they’re going through the stress of a tumor in their breast. Some people might question your credibility as a nurse. “Why would a nurse whose job is rooted in science be prescribing a spiritual practice? I’m not even religious!

This is something you WILL need to address in your career as a NURSE yoga teacher.

This is NOT a reason to give up or give in. In fact, this is THE reason you need to continue on your path, educating your communities toward a better approach to their self-care. There is growing evidence daily on the impact of yoga and meditation in reducing Stress, Anxiety, Pain and Suffering. Equipped with the right information and knowledge on HOW to teach, along with science-based research, you can help reduce the myths and misunderstandings people have toward yoga and the impact you make will be lasting and memorable. Your skeptics will thank you one day.

Do not give up on them. You ARE on the right path.

Limiting Belief #2

Not enough time and money to invest in your dream

“There is no time!”, I hear you. It’s difficult as it is to keep shining in your career as a nurse...let alone establish yourself as a yoga teacher on top of that. You might find time to take a yoga class here and there or you might even manage a Yoga Teacher Training (or several). Most of the training sessions are on the weekends anyway and you have to work a 12 hour shift on a Saturday. It will have to wait, you tell yourself. Cost is another factor, you work hard and you have bills to pay and yoga teacher training seems like a low priority expense, ergo, it is OK to leave it for the ever-elusive SOMEDAY.

This is understandable but consider WHY your heart is calling for you to pursue a career as a NURSE Yoga Teacher?

The best part about pursuing your career as a NURSE yoga teacher is to TRANSFORM your career so that you may continue to serve as a nurse and return to your primordial state of peaceful, love and kindness. You will live longer, live happier, feel fulfilled and ease the Stress, Anxiety, Pain and Suffering of others. Good karma. High vibrations and a more fulfilling career that spreads kindness around the world. This is WORTH the investment of time and money and it will pay off ten-fold.

Trust, the money you invest will be made back if you follow through to your hearts desire. However it must be said, that if money is your biggest priority, you are setting yourself up for failure. This is a pursuit that pays back in more than just monetary value. It's a give and take of kindness. A service to a world in dire need of lightness.

Limiting Belief #3

Believing that you don’t fit in due to your age, fitness level, flexibility, weight or gender.

This is where you might be tempted to shy away. You might believe that you need to have the perfect body. You could be about as flexible as your nursing schedule (so not very). Maybe you think you’re too fat, too skinny, too tall, too thin, too masculine. Every insecurity you have will jump out at you in a panic.

It’s okay, you can come out from under your bed. Just breathe. I want you to know that with yoga, your insecurities play in your favor

Yoga is FLEXIBLE so that you don’t have to be. You can adapt to suit your body, exactly as you are with all of your beautiful “flaws” - in fact, if you embrace those so-called flaws, you will find yourself inspiring others to do the same. THIS is after all what you came here to do! Inspire and influence people toward positivity, self-acceptance, compassion. Yoga never discriminates...no matter WHO you are...

Limiting Belief #4

I need a 100, 200, 800, 10 000 hour Yoga Alliance approved certificate + there’s GOT to be a lot of red tape to integrate yoga into the medical field.

You might think that you need a 200-hour yoga teacher training registered with the Yoga Alliance in order to teach yoga.

This is NOT true.

Yoga Alliance is simply a voluntary, paid registry system of yoga schools and individuals who have completed training through one of those schools. It does not certify teachers. Although it is commonly misunderstood, registration with YA is not required to teach yoga, even though some individuals, employers, and the public mistakenly view it as such.

For a nurse who wants to practice yoga for self-care, and/or incorporate yoga teachings into nursing care, nursing education, or in the vast wellness workplace, a 200-hour generic yoga teacher training program designed to prepare entry level yoga teachers is not necessarily your path.

Now that we’ve eliminated that myth, you may be fearing the red tape. Your manager or hospital may not be ready for the introduction of yoga in a medical environment. Perhaps they see it as “experimental” or risky. The fear of lawsuits, injury, risking careers can deter you from attempting this task.

Yoga does not need to be risky. With the right preparation, enough research, proper presentation, and adequate support, you can feel fully confident and prepared to teach SAFE therapeutic, medical yoga and you will break through barriers by addressing misconceptions about yoga.

Limiting Belief #5

No concise, all-in-one resource for nurses who want to teach yoga and not enough peer support

You may have taken yoga teacher training before or you may be searching for one that speaks your language as a nurse. There is a  plethora of information, yoga styles, techniques, poses, methods, myths and hogwash out there. Sorting through all of that information without being able to address your specific needs as a nurse, is mind-bending. Not to mention exhausting. You might feel like you do not have the support you need to start this up. Nurses need a tribe. Yoga Nurses need an even more specific tribe. It can be discouraging and overwhelming to go it alone.

The good news is that you are not alone. More and more nurses worldwide are looking to join this movement toward a higher consciousness in healthcare. The better news is that this means there’s a DEMAND for a NURSE curriculum medical, therapeutic yoga teacher training and you’re closer than you think to receiving exactly the kind of resources and support that you need to get started without taking years to figure it all out.

The revolution in nursing has begun...

As nurses, we know that there’s MASSIVE demand and NEED for change in our approach to healthcare and workplace wellness. Thankfully, the medical world IS waking up to the powerful benefits of yoga BUT there’s still a huge gap to fill and a long road to walk before yoga is accepted and fully integrated into our nursing practice.

How do we start filling this gap?

It starts with you

You are in a unique position right now as a nurse who understands the power of an integrative approach in healthcare. One more awakened nurse, pursuing her duty to advocate for her patients and for the nursing career as a whole is a HUGE step in the right direction.

This is what usually stops nurses from taking an integrative approach in their careers:

Part of the challenge many of us face is applying the wisdom of yoga in a manner that is evidence based to ensure that both the health care professional and the patient are in position to realize positive outcomes SAFELY

If you knew exactly how to start and how to approach this, you could be a leader of this nursing revolution, advocating for better patient care and revolutionizing the nursing profession.

With over 50 years of my own education in nursing, yoga and Ayurveda (the sister science of yoga), united with my brilliant team of CYN’s (Certified YogaNurses), we would LOVE to help you create greater influence, expand your impact and increase your income...safely and competently...

Frequently Asked Questions

I feel you. We have an endless list of to-dos and it can be a huge decision taking on yet another training program but rest assured, we’ve got your back and we’ve taken this into consideration.

If you’ve been struggling to take the leap and integrate yoga into your nursing career, it’s likely due to time constraints. You need time to research, take classes, practice, train and learn the best practices, ins and outs, ups and downs and most especially, learn the best way to SAFELY teach yoga in a medical background without the risk of injuries or lawsuits. Figuring all of this stuff out can take years and some nurses never feel confident enough to take the next step.

This is one of the leading reasons YogaNurse Yoga Teacher Training was created.

The course is broken down into manageable pieces, with condensed, curated content that addresses your UNIQUE needs as a nurse and shows you exactly what you need to know to start your journey as a nurse yoga teacher and SAFELY integrate yoga into your practice.

With 50 years of experience and a team of Certified Yoga Nurses and Yoga Teacher Experts at my side, I’ve figured it all out for you. Step-by-step, grab & go protocols and modules with exactly what you need to know in order for you to seamlessly and safely integrate yoga into your nursing career.

What took me 50 YEARS to learn (the hard way), is now available to you in a condensed, curated format that you can complete in as little as 6 months or up to 2 years - completely self-paced and online

The result: Without any time pressure, you can absorb everything you need to know with this NURSE curriculum Yoga Teacher Training. You don’t have to figure it out all by yourself, and this saves you years of time and brings you heaps of benefits.

Being money-wise matters and we want you to get back far more than you’ve invested so we’ve worked hard to provide you with quality, curated, research-based content.

The good news is that everything you need to know to start your journey as a nurse yoga teacher is available in the online digital course (phase one) which we are providing to you at a special price for our inaugural training. It will never be cheaper than it is now.

In addition: to maximize on value for money, we’ve added amazing bonus materials and courses, and included bite-sized payment options to make things easier. To give you peace of mind, we’ve also included a 30 day money back guarantee to ensure that you will never feel a single pinch of regret for enrolling today.

The best part: When you combine yoga+nursing you get divine purpose and opportunity. You will take a spiritual journey toward your higher purpose and you’ll be at the forefront of a needed change in healthcare policy, relieving burnout, stress, anxiety, pain and suffering in your community. This to me, makes the union of yoga+nursing a worthy investment uplifting our profession as nurses. YNYTT serves to make this journey smoother, easier and faster.

I'm so glad you asked! Different from other programs, the YNYTT is a NURSE curriculum yoga teacher training - the first program that exclusively trains nurses, by nurses, who are both experienced Yoga Teachers and Certified YogaNurses.

Nurses are licensed medical professionals who speak a specific language encompassing education and experiences which only other nurses can understand and relate to. The YNYTT syllabus carefully addresses the unique needs and language of the nursing profession.

This training is inspired by the vision of Florence Nightingale, who affirmed the “role of a nurse is to put her patient in the best position to be able to self-heal”.

The purpose of the YNYTT is to help nurses to potentiate the authentic, caring, healing energy which flows from intentionality into an integrated trinity of body, mind and spirit.

A Three-Pronged Approach:

  1. YNYTT increases self-care and self-inquiry for nurses on a personal, spiritual and professional level.
  2. YNYTT improves patient care and patient self-healing.
  3. YNYTT provides nurses with a complementary, adjunct therapy to integrate into their career life plus create potential opportunities for new income streams.

This course has applied for approval for Nursing Contact Hours by the American Holistic Nursing Association who is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. YA (Yoga Alliance) credits are not currently offered at this time. Approx. 40 CEUs estimated for full training.

The Yoga Nurse® Statement on Yoga Alliance, YA

The YogaNurse® Yoga Teacher Training program (YNYTT) is not applying to Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga School. We will, however, apply for Nursing CEUs for those parts of the YNYTT that meet the ANCC/ANHCC guidelines and plan to have those approved before the start of the inaugural program.

Registration with Yoga Alliance was designed for community-based yoga schools preparing individuals to teach yoga.  For nurses who want to practice yoga for self-care, and/or incorporate the YNYTT therapeutic yoga teachings into nursing care and in the vast wellness workplace, a 200-hour generic yoga teacher training program designed to prepare entry level yoga teachers is not necessarily their path, and it is not ours.

The YNYTT was not created to align with the current Yoga Alliance requirements for the total number of program hours (200) or the amount of time students must spend in the physical presence of the program’s lead instructor (180). Currently they accept a limited  blended learning approach which includes restricted hours of online activities. Most nurses today participate in some form of online learning for higher education. While those mandates for all live contact hours by YA might make sense for the training of lay people learning to teach yoga, they do not make sense for nurses who have a different objective in choosing the YNYTT path.

The YNYTT is designed specifically for nurses, by nurses. It recognizes the unique needs of nurses who are striving for work-life balance and allows busy nurses to study online, practice in their community, and to attend a yoga retreat-like experience to complete the program. YNYTT will also be recognized as an accepted yoga teacher training program for those nurses who wish to become a CYN. Certified YogaNurse®.

Lastly, we think it is important that nurses understand that Yoga Alliance is simply a voluntary, paid registry system of yoga schools and individuals who have completed training through one of those schools. It does not certify teachers. Although it is commonly misunderstood, registration with YA is not required to teach yoga, even though some individuals, employers, and the public mistakenly view it as such.

The short answer is yes IF you are interested in a deeper spiritual experience and a healthier lifestyle for you and anyone you wish to help through yoga.

That said, it really depends on how deeply you want to integrate yoga into your personal and professional life. Perhaps taking a yoga class is enough for you. In that case, don’t take this training program. However if you’d like to deepen your experience and understanding of yoga (including the hows, whys and whens), you might want to consider this course or any other yoga teacher training you might find more suitable.

With this being a NURSE-curriculum yoga teacher training, there’s a plethora of benefits:

  • YNYTT can deepen your understanding of the anatomy, breath work, philosophies, principles and reasoning behind the practice of yoga, this will in turn heighten your awareness of your postures, habits and innermost needs or the needs of others.
  • Taking yoga classes on it’s own rarely explores deeply into what you should be looking for and how to adjust poses for various individuals and health conditions. YNYTT can help you avoid injuries, as you learn SAFE, gentle and effective yoga techniques and practices for a variety of health conditions, goals and fitness levels.
  • The medical world is awakening to the benefits of yoga in healthcare and by taking this course, you can be ahead of the learning curve and PART of the movement that brings consciousness into healthcare. This might be an ancient hindu practice but it will NEVER get old. The knowledge you gain from this course will ALWAYS be relevant.
  • If you want to alleviate (Stress, Anxiety, Pain and Suffering) or SAPS as we call it in the Yoganurse Essentials, a deeper understanding of yoga will help you adapt your practice/teachings to the situation at hand, assisting those who might experience varying levels of trauma and difficulty.
  • We are the loneliest generation of humans in history. We pride ourselves in our community of nurses. You can join our tribe and feel supported as you learn. Our nurses take care of each other and we pride ourselves in creating a positive, welcoming and trustworthy environment in our private groups.
  • You’ll learn the deeper origins and principles behind mindful practice and meditation. Yoga Teacher Training can broaden your mind, expand your thinking, guiding you through your journey toward your higher self and a healthier you.

Yoga accepts you darling. Just as you are. You are enough. You do not need to have the perfect body, the perfect shape, size, gender or age. In fact, your so-called “flaws” will be an inspiration for others. In April 2019 I committed to going for my biggest dream...I knew it would mean stepping outside of my comfort zone, trying new things, and committing to visibility and vulnerability. I had insecurities about showing my senior citizen face on camera, and to appear in front of large crowds during my speaking and training events has taken a lot of guts, gumption and grit. By amazing grace, this turned out to be one of the things that drew people to me. People want to learn yoga from REAL people. There’s no need to be perfect...everyone can do yoga.

Yoga is the practice of acceptance, self love and finding your higher self. You will inspire others to find their own strengths. Be bold my dear. You will find your flow.

You will receive access to 3 bonus courses including our cardiology and oncology protocols as well as free access to David Kiel’s Yoga Anatomy course. You will also become a member of the yoganurse tribe and receive support from our community and Certified YogaNurses.

You will be given login details to the online ecourse that you can access at any time from any device (mobile, ipad, laptop etc).

The modules in YNYTT will be released on a weekly basis with periods of reflection/integration and community discussion in between. You will not need to adjust your busy schedule to the course. You can complete each module at your own pace, in your own time, in as little as 6 months or as much as 2 years (entirely up to you). You will not miss out on a single thing. We will make sure you have access to any additional training/community support/integration sessions that you might have missed and you can reach out to us or to the community at any time.
