Many years ago I found myself in a place where traditional nursing broke my heart and my body because of the impossible workload and all the bureaucratic challenges I could not change. I adored patient care but working short most of the time tore me up and sucked out my soul.
By amazing grace, I found a new path. I had a vision of uniting my yoga practice with nursing and I started to see amazing results for both myself and my patients. My passion and mission is to share the fruits of what I learned with nurses who are intrigued by the idea of uniting nursing with yoga to make a difference for themselves, for their patients and to get paid what they’re worth. I founded the YogaNurse model of care over 20 years ago and trained thousands of nurses worldwide.
My programs are designed by nurses for nurses to help them prescribe medical yoga competently, safely and without the risk of injuries.
Research tells us the #1 reason for injuries in yoga is overdoing your practice. Even more surprising is the #2 reason for injuries in yoga. Wait for it…inexperienced teachers. I had to have early hip replacement surgery because of teachers who pushed me too hard. Being a nurse, you're careful to avoid such mistakes, you do your due diligence, you're NOT afraid to learn. This makes YOU the perfect ambassador, leading the way to a new innovative approach to healthcare. Yes, THIS is your divinely designated destiny!
You already understand the infinite possibilities of using the ancient wisdom of yoga with the science of modern nursing. Much of the heartache and burnout you experience as a nurse comes from poor outcomes in patient care, overwork and lack of self care. What if there was a more efficient way to achieve faster results for those we serve and experience deeper fulfilment? What if we could craft a career that is passion-filled and meaningful in ways that could serve you even through your retirement? Yoga + Nursing allows you exactly that opportunity. It puts the patient in power, giving them the ability to take an active role in their own healing journey. It places you in the position to leave a positive and lasting impact in healthcare right now, opening up new doors of opportunity and income.
As a nurse you’re looking to address SAFETY when applying therapeutic yoga in your practice as an adjunct therapy, and increase referrals, but most importantly reduce the risk of injury to consumers of yoga in your community. You do not need to be a contortionist to enjoy the benefits of yoga and this is exciting and brilliant news because it makes your dream of becoming a nurse yoga teacher achievable. Right now, in your lifetime, you can revolutionize healthcare and reach the hearts of your patients in a way that is not possible in traditional nursing. Yoga is science-backed to improve patient outcomes, alleviate symptoms, manage pain, improve mental health, reduce risks of diseases, improve wellbeing, sleep and quality of life. Nurses are the perfect advocates for improving patient care. This is the best way forward for the nursing profession!
There is a HUGE demand for solutions in occupational health in almost every industry and your service will be a welcomed blessing to EVERYBODY. From your own colleagues to corporate businesses, you can have a lasting impact on better mental health, wellbeing and safety in the workplace. Plus there's endless benefits for your own personal well-being.
Combining yoga and nursing creates potential opportunities for NEW income streams. Whether you’re working in higher education nursing colleges, looking to start your own holistic practice, provide solutions in occupational health, or improve patient care and referral rates, there's no better way to increase your income, impact and influence than through sacred service to others, self-care and self-inquiry. We'll show you how to leverage your position as a nurse yoga teacher and expand your career opportunities.
We are looking at a paradigm shift with a goal of lowering health care costs, treating the full spectrum of clients from cardiology, endocrinology, and oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics, geriatrics, and women’s health as examples, with individuals and in groups.
Treating pain is a moral responsibility for nurses. You understand how critical it is to advocate for your patients and you know that there's massive room for improvement in our current healthcare system. YOU can be at the forefront of change in healthcare policy by including clinically effective and cost effective, integrative approaches to pain management, be it physical, mental, or emotional pain.
Being a nurse you are serving a higher purpose in the world, giving sacred service to those who are going through the worst of times. Now you can ramp up your impact, influence and income by positioning yourself as a beloved, world-class:
Teach nurses young and old, the way of the YogaNurse and revolutionize the nursing profession like a modern day Nightingale! Wear your cape proudly and your scrubs loosely as you fight pain and suffering in ailing patients one gentle stretch at a time. Reduce burnout in nurses, improve nursing education, make a career in workplace wellness and ignite peace around the world with your conscious caring presence!
This profession was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we advocate for our patients, stand up for them, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the naysayers tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself in tree pose, beside the river of enlightenment and give yourself and others the help they need to alleviate SAPS (Stress, Anxiety, Pain and Suffering).
The story of Susan is a representation of the journey so many of our nurses took.
Susan had been working tirelessly in the healthcare field for years. She loved her job and the patients she served, but over time, the constant stress and long hours began to take a toll on her physical and mental health. She found herself feeling burnt out and exhausted, unable to keep up with the demands of her job.
Susan decided to google Yoga and Nursing and came across Annette Tersigni, RN and Founder of YogaNurse, she decided to give it a try. From the very first training - the YogaNursing Essentials, Susan was hooked. Annette mentored her and taught her gentle medical yoga and breathing exercises which helped her to relax and release the tension in her body and mind. As she continued to practice yoga regularly, she began to feel more energized, focused, and centered.
Inspired by the transformation she had experienced, Susan continued her training in pursuit of becoming a Certified YogaNurse® and decided it was incredibly beneficial to integrate yoga into nursing both for her own fulfilment and for the improved quality of life she was able to provide to her patients.
As Susan continued to deepen her knowledge and practice of yoga in holistic healing modalities, the YogaNurse training taught her about the application of gentle medical yoga for various conditions such as trauma, oncology, cardiac care, addiction, pain, stress, injuries and more.
She began teaching her patients gentle therapeutic medical yoga to help them manage their stress and pain. Her training gave her the skills she needed to safely and confidently prescribe yoga for various conditions and disabilities. She also started leading yoga sessions for her fellow nurses, helping them to find peace and balance amidst the chaos of their demanding jobs.
Before she knew it, Susan had become an expert in holistic yoga nursing. She had found a way to integrate her passion for healthcare with her love of yoga, and was now living her best life. She had transformed her career, and had become a source of inspiration and guidance for her colleagues and patients alike. Susan found it incredibly fulfilling as she empowered her patients to achieve a higher quality of life and word got around of her incredible services.
She was also delighted to find that she'd opened up a pathway to multiple new career opportunities. Her credentials as a nurse yoga expert gave her the authenticity and authority to get hired at hospitals, schools, universities, senior centers plus she knew exactly how to approach them and how to position herself thanks to the training she received from the YogaNurse courses.
Looking back on her journey, Susan realized that her burnout had been a blessing in disguise. It had forced her to take a step back and reevaluate her priorities, and had ultimately led her to discover a new path that was more fulfilling and rewarding than she could have ever imagined.
Now, as she continued to help others find healing and balance through her work as a holistic nurse expert, Susan felt grateful for the struggles she had faced along the way. She knew that they had brought her to where she was meant to be, and that she was exactly where she was meant to be - living her best life, and helping others to do the same.
As nurses, we know that there’s MASSIVE demand and NEED for change in our approach to healthcare and workplace wellness. Thankfully, the medical world IS waking up to the powerful benefits of yoga BUT there’s still a huge gap and a HUGE DEMAND for holistic nurses in the wellness industry.
Being a nurse, you are already a well-respected and trusted authority in wellness. Combine that with your powers as a medical, therapeutic nurse yoga teacher, and you blast open doors of divine opportunity you didn’t know existed! From your own personal healing and fulfilment to the expansion of consciousness in healthcare, you will transform lives.
This is what usually stops nurses from taking an integrative approach in their careers:
Part of the challenge many of us face is applying the wisdom of yoga in a manner that is evidence based to ensure that both the healthcare professional and the patient are in position to realize positive outcomes SAFELY.
If you knew exactly how to start and how to approach this, you could be a leader of this nursing revolution, advocating for better patient care and revolutionizing the nursing profession.
With over 50 years of my own education in nursing, yoga and Ayurveda (the sister science of yoga), united with my brilliant team of CYN’s (Certified YogaNurses), we would LOVE to help you create greater influence, expand your impact and increase your income...safely and competently...
You might think that the world is not really ready for yoga as a mainstream solution for improved health. You are partly right. While medical science is catching up quickly to the power of yoga, there's still many who might consider it woo woo or "alternative" therapy. This is far from the truth and this is where you can make a difference. Bridging the gap between the ancient wisdom of yoga and the science of modern nursing is exactly what healthcare needs right now and it is what our Certified YogaNurses have been achieving for years.
There is growing evidence daily on the impact of yoga and meditation in reducing Stress, Anxiety, Pain and Suffering. Equipped with the right information and knowledge on HOW to teach, along with science-based research, you can help reduce the myths and misunderstandings people have toward yoga and the impact you make will be lasting and memorable.
Do not give up on them. You ARE on the right path. This is the way forward for nursing.
“There is no time.” - I hear you.
This is understandable but consider WHY your heart is calling for you to pursue a career as a NURSE Yoga Expert?
Nurses will rarely feel fulfilled on a pay check alone, you are frustrated, burnt out and stressed from witnessing the most tragic of human stories right before your eyes on a daily basis. Meaning, purpose, fulfilment, empowerment (for yourself and others), this is what will fuel your heart and keep you going.
Becoming a Nurse Yoga Teacher will TRANSFORM your career uplifting you as you return to your primordial state of peaceful, love and kindness. You will live longer, live happier, feel fulfilled and ease Stress, Anxiety, Pain and Suffering for yourself and others. Good karma that spreads kindness around the world. This is WORTH the investment of time and money and it will pay off ten-fold.
Trust, the money you invest will be made back if you follow through to your hearts desire. However it must be said, that if money is your biggest priority, you are setting yourself up for failure. This is a pursuit that pays back in more than just monetary value. It's a give and take of kindness. It is a calling.
This is where you might be tempted to shy away. You might believe that you need to have the perfect body. Maybe you think you’re too fat, too skinny, too tall, too thin, too masculine, not flexible enough.
Trust me I know! I've been at this for 50 YEARS. You do not need perfection. In fact trying to be perfect is what got me in trouble about 10 years ago when I had to have an early hip replacement because my yoga teachers thought they were doing the right thing pushing me to do picture perfect yoga.
Yoga is FLEXIBLE so that you don’t have to be. You will learn to adapt your practice to suit your body and you will inspire and influence people toward positivity, self-acceptance, compassion.

You might think that you need a 200-hour yoga teacher training registered with the Yoga Alliance in order to teach yoga.
This is NOT true.
Yoga Alliance is simply a voluntary, paid registry system of yoga schools and individuals who have completed training through one of those schools. It does not certify teachers. Although it is commonly misunderstood, registration with YA is not required to teach yoga, even though some individuals, employers, and the public mistakenly view it as such.
For a nurse who wants to practice yoga for self-care, and/or incorporate yoga teachings into nursing care, nursing education, or in the vast wellness workplace, a 200-hour generic yoga teacher training program designed to prepare entry level yoga teachers is not necessarily your path.
With the right preparation, enough research, proper presentation, and adequate support, you can feel fully confident and prepared to teach SAFE therapeutic, medical yoga and you will break through barriers by addressing misconceptions about yoga.
You may have taken yoga teacher training before or you may be searching for one that speaks your language as a nurse. There is a plethora of information, yoga styles, techniques, poses, methods, myths and hogwash out there. Sorting through all of that information without being able to address your specific needs as a nurse, is mind-bending. Not to mention exhausting. You might feel like you do not have the support you need to start this up. Nurses need a tribe. Yoga Nurses need an even more specific tribe. It can be discouraging and overwhelming to go it alone.
The good news is that you are not alone. More and more nurses worldwide are looking to join this movement toward a higher consciousness in healthcare. The better news is that this means there’s a DEMAND for a NURSE curriculum medical, therapeutic yoga teacher training and we're able to give you exactly the kind of resources and support that you need to prescribe yoga SAFELY, without the risk of injury and without taking years to figure it all out.

Expand your impact, influence and income with YNYTT.
I'm so glad you asked! Different from other programs, the YNYTT is a NURSE curriculum yoga teacher training - the first program that exclusively trains nurses, by nurses, who are both experienced Yoga Teachers and Certified YogaNurses.
Nurses are licensed medical professionals who speak a specific language encompassing education and experiences which only other nurses can understand and relate to. The YNYTT syllabus carefully addresses the unique needs and language of the nursing profession.
This training is inspired by the vision of Florence Nightingale, who affirmed the “role of a nurse is to put her patient in the best position to be able to self-heal”.
The purpose of the YNYTT is to help nurses to potentiate the authentic, caring, healing energy which flows from intentionality into an integrated trinity of body, mind and spirit.
A Three-Pronged Approach:
When you enroll today for Phase One of YNYTT you will receive your bonus courses that will grant you 13 Nursing CEU's!
We are not a 200 hour training. We have a curated, condensed, model of care focused on what nurses need to know. Not what outside registries want, which restrict our scope of practice and what we want to teach. In essence we do our own thing as a pioneer in the therapeutic medical yoga field.
This training is a culmination of over 50 years of my own education in nursing, yoga and Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, united with my brilliant A-Team of CYN (Certified YogaNurse) and nurse yoga teacher experts. Our training is an adjunct therapy and we want to share with you what has worked for nurses!
We have listened to nurses for 20 years, we have thousands of nurses, doctorate nurses, nurses who teach throughout the United States at nursing colleges. We present at major hospitals, the mayo clinic and have been recognized by nursing leaders for years. There is nothing wrong with taking a 200 hour teacher training. By all means I’ve done it, many of the nurses in our movement have done it however the YNYTT does not require 200 hours.
Listen to your heart and align with what calls to you. Should you decide it’s right for you, we know you will find our training programs enlightening - we speak your language - no other yoga teacher training caters specifically to nurses.
Nurses are teaching our training programs and actively integrating it into their practices worldwide! Meant as an adjunct Tx, this course will teach you how to safely integrate yoga and nursing and begin your journey as a nurse yoga teacher or to pursue licensing as a Certified YogaNurse®
The YogaNurse® Statement on Yoga Alliance, YA
The YogaNurse® Yoga Teacher Training program (YNYTT) is not applying to Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga School.
Registration with Yoga Alliance was designed for community-based yoga schools preparing individuals to teach yoga. For nurses who want to practice yoga for self-care, and/or incorporate the YNYTT therapeutic yoga teachings into nursing care and in the vast wellness workplace, a 200-hour generic yoga teacher training program designed to prepare entry level yoga teachers is not necessarily their path, and it is not ours.
The YNYTT was not created to align with the current Yoga Alliance requirements for the total number of program hours (200) or the amount of time students must spend in the physical presence of the program’s lead instructor (180). Currently they accept a limited blended learning approach which includes restricted hours of online activities. Most nurses today participate in some form of online learning for higher education. While those mandates for all live contact hours by YA might make sense for the training of lay people learning to teach yoga, they do not make sense for nurses who have a different objective in choosing the YNYTT path.
The YNYTT is designed specifically for nurses, by nurses. It recognizes the unique needs of nurses who are striving for work-life balance and allows busy nurses to study online, practice in their community, and to attend a yoga retreat-like experience to complete the program. YNYTT will also be recognized as an accepted yoga teacher training program for those nurses who wish to become a CYN. Certified YogaNurse®.
Lastly, we think it is important that nurses understand that Yoga Alliance is simply a voluntary, paid registry system of yoga schools and individuals who have completed training through one of those schools. It does not certify teachers. Although it is commonly misunderstood, registration with YA is not required to teach yoga, even though some individuals, employers, and the public mistakenly view it as such.
The CYN training is the culmination of the YogaNurse Yoga Teacher Training divided into 3 phases.
Phase One: Online, stand-alone digital self-study (registration closes soon).
Phase Two: A Virtual Retreat AND/OR Onsite in-person Residential Training/Retreat.
Phase Three: A mentoring and practicum program and training that qualifies you as a CYN.
Phase Three gives you Certification + YogaNurse Licensing.
Licensed and Certified YogaNurses are authorized to facilitate The YogaNursing process and to teach official trademarked YogaNurse program, and call yourself a Certified YogaNurse® – CYN. A Certificate of Completion + Lifetime use of the YogaNurse Brand Assets including trademarked avatars, a copy of the YogaNurse logo + badges to use in your resume, Bio and all of your print & online marketing materials.
You must complete all three phases to qualify as a CYN. You begin with Phase One - our standalone, self-paced online program. Once you complete Phase One, you can decide when or if to apply for Phase 2!
Phase 3 can be applied for after you've completed Phase 2.
Payment options will be made available for all three phases.
To ensure the quality and consistency of our work, and to maintain the fidelity of our research, only Licensed and Certified YogaNurses are authorized to facilitate The YogaNursing process and to teach official trademarked YogaNurse program, and call yourself a Certified YogaNurse® – CYN.
Some of the bountiful benefits of becoming a Certified YogaNurse® are the endless possibilities for teaching. Many of our grads work with private clients one on one at home or in an office, at hospitals and businesses in the gigantic, in demand and lucrative workplace wellness market place, community wellness centers and at locations with other holistic practitioners. Other Nurses create alliances with yoga studios, YMCAs, schools, universities, colleges, for continuing education for staff and students, seniors centers, assisted living facilities, churches and synagogues, and in government, i.e. the VA. Others become coveted speakers for local and national nursing organizations and conventions.

The short answer is yes IF you are interested in a deeper spiritual experience and a healthier lifestyle for you and anyone you wish to help through yoga.
That said, it really depends on how deeply you want to integrate yoga into your personal and professional life. Perhaps taking a yoga class is enough for you. In that case, don’t take this training program. However if you’d like to deepen your experience and understanding of yoga (including the hows, whys and whens), you might want to consider this course or any other yoga teacher training you find more suitable. YNYTT is designed specifically for nurses, by nurses. The benefits extend beyond traditional yoga classes. It recognizes the unique needs of nurses and teaches you how to position yourself as a leader in the wellness industry. YNYTT will also be recognized as an accepted yoga teacher training program for those nurses who wish to become a CYN. Certified YogaNurse®
NURSE-curriculum yoga teacher training, provides a plethora of benefits:
YNYTT can deepen your understanding of the anatomy, breath work, philosophies, principles and reasoning behind the practice of yoga, this will in turn heighten your awareness of your postures, habits and innermost needs or the needs of others.
Regular yoga classes rarely explore how to adjust poses for various individuals and health conditions. YNYTT can help you avoid injuries, as you learn SAFE, gentle and effective yoga techniques and practices for a variety of health conditions, goals and fitness levels.
The medical world is awakening to the benefits of yoga in healthcare and by taking this course, you can be ahead of the learning curve and PART of the movement that brings consciousness into healthcare. This might be an ancient Hindu practice but it will NEVER get old. The knowledge you gain from this course will ALWAYS be relevant and beneficial.
If you want to alleviate (Stress, Anxiety, Pain and Suffering) or SAPS as we call it in the YogaNurse Essentials, a deeper understanding of yoga will help you adapt your practice/teachings to the situation at hand, assisting those who might experience varying levels of trauma and difficulty.
We are the loneliest generation of humans in history. We pride ourselves in our community of nurses. You can join our tribe and feel supported as you learn. Our nurses take care of each other and we pride ourselves in creating a positive, welcoming and trustworthy environment in our private groups.
You’ll learn the deeper origins and principles behind mindful practice and meditation. Yoga Teacher Training can broaden your mind, expand your thinking, guiding you through your journey toward your higher self and a healthier you.
YNYTT takes you BEYOND our Best-Sellling Foundational Course "The YogaNursing Essentials" but does not REPLACE it.
Phase One is the online digital self-study part of the CYN course (also known as YNYTT - YogaNurse Yoga Teacher Training).
The YogaNursing Essentials is our entry-level cost effective program but it is still an ESSENTIAL part of our training that will come into play frequently in YNYTT.
YNYTT is the course nurses have been asking for. A Nurse Curriculum Yoga Teacher Training to deepen the experience and solidify the union between yoga and nursing.
YNYTT is expanded in terms of the therapeutic medical application of yoga including the philosophical eastern and western approaches and goes more in depth, focusing on the process of disease and how to work with pain, mental health, addiction, PTSD. It is a more advanced practice beyond the essentials. Plus the student has the opportunity to advance and attend face to face, a live training (or blended training of live and online) with Annette and her team of Certified YogaNurses®. This also gives you the opportunity down the line to become a Certified YogaNurse®.
Yoga accepts you darling. Just as you are. You are enough. You do not need to have the perfect body, the perfect shape, size, gender or age. In fact, your so-called “flaws” will be an inspiration for others. In April 2020 I committed to going for my biggest dream...I knew it would mean stepping outside of my comfort zone, trying new things, and committing to visibility and vulnerability. I had insecurities about showing my senior citizen face on camera, and to appear in front of large crowds during my speaking and training events has taken a lot of guts, gumption and grit. By amazing grace, this turned out to be one of the things that drew people to me. People want to learn yoga from REAL people. There’s no need to be perfect...everyone can do yoga even those with limited mobility and flexibility.
Yoga is the practice of acceptance, self love and finding your higher self. You will inspire others to find their own strengths. Be bold my dear. You will find your flow.
You will receive access to your bonus content immediately after signing up.
You will also become a member of the YogaNurse tribe and receive support from our community and Certified YogaNurses.
You will be given login details to the online course that you can access at any time from any device (mobile, ipad, laptop etc).
The modules in YNYTT will be released on a weekly basis with periods of reflection/integration and community discussion in between. You will not need to adjust your busy schedule to the course. You can complete each module at your own pace, in your own time.
You will not miss out on a single thing. We will make sure you have access to any additional training/community support/integration sessions that you might have missed and you can reach out to us or to the community at any time.
